About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an Interim Head of DevOps to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 6 month contract and will be a hybrid role that will be based UK-wide from a local hub, with weekly attendance at a local office.

Our client is seeking an experienced senior technology leader to provide strategic direction across a multidisciplinary digital development capability covering Dynamics 365, software and web development, quality assurance, testing, Azure DevOps and digital service support. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening delivery accountability, supporting major transformation initiatives and aligning technical teams with organisational priorities. This role offers the opportunity to shape both immediate delivery outcomes and the longer-term direction of a significant digital development function.

Responsibilities:

Lead and provide strategic direction across multidisciplinary digital development, DevOps and service support teams.
Take overall accountability for technical delivery across key digital projects, programmes and live services.
Establish clear ownership, delivery expectations and effective ways of working across the development function.
Support priority programmes, live services and FinOps initiatives while addressing delivery risks and challenges.
Collaborate with senior stakeholders to ensure technical delivery remains aligned with wider programme and organisational objectives.

About You

Significant experience leading multidisciplinary software development, DevOps or digital delivery teams at a senior level.
Proven experience delivering change, transformation, project or programme initiatives within complex environments.
Strong knowledge of software delivery and modern engineering practices, with sufficient technical depth to challenge decisions and support delivery teams.
Experience holding technical teams accountable for delivery, quality and business outcomes while influencing senior stakeholders.
Desirable: Experience with Azure cloud environments, Azure DevOps, Dynamics 365 development teams, digital service support or FinOps capability.
