About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an End User Computing Engineer to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 5-month contract with very good prospects to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in a local hub, UK-wide, with one day per week in the office.

Our client is seeking an End User Computing Engineer to join its internal EUC team and support a short-term requirement within Technology Operations. The role will focus on application impact testing, packaging and deployment, helping the team meet service levels for new application requests while reviewing and updating a catalogue of more than 100 approved applications. You will also contribute to improvements in the testing and packaging process, helping maintain a secure, reliable and up-to-date end-user application estate.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform application impact testing and validate application compatibility with Microsoft Windows 11 and Microsoft Intune deployment.
  • Package applications for Intune using the Win32 app format, including reliable detection and uninstall functionality.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for installation, detection, logging and error handling.
  • Configure and manage Microsoft Entra ID groups and application assignments in line with agreed naming and targeting conventions.
  • Document application impact tests and packaging and deployment processes, while recommending improvements to workflows and tooling.

About You

  • Strong experience of application packaging and deployment using Microsoft Intune, including Win32 apps, detection and requirement rules, dependencies, assignments and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting, including PSADT, detection scripts, logging and error handling.
  • Experience working with installer technologies such as MSI, InstallShield and custom EXE installers.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 10 and Windows 11, with the ability to diagnose and resolve application compatibility and deployment issues.
  • Experience managing user and group configurations in Microsoft Entra ID, including dynamic membership rules, alongside the ability to produce clear documentation for technical and end-user audiences.
