About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an SME Enablement Partner to join the Space Planning team at a leading UK retail client, within Fashion, Home & Beauty. This is a 6 month contract with good potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in London.

The business is moving its space planning from Blue Yonder to RELEX, and its experienced Space Planning SMEs are spending more time on that transformation. You will be embedded in the Space Planning team, keeping day-to-day work running accurately, consistently and on time. You will backfill agreed SME activity and give the team the capacity to contribute to the programme. The role offers flexible support across space planning, store space optimisation, grading, analysis, documentation and stakeholder coordination, depending on where SME capacity is most stretched.

Responsibilities:

  • Backfill agreed Space Planning activity while SMEs are in transformation workshops, design, testing, training and cutover
  • Take ownership of defined operational tasks, follow-ups and coordination, so SMEs have practical capacity
  • Protect delivery of BAU milestones, trading priorities, seasonal activity and store-facing outputs
  • Support Space Planning Managers, Store Space Performance Planners and wider colleagues across macro space, grading, store plans and layout information
  • Support tactical space, concession and store optimisation activity by coordinating inputs, maintaining trackers and progressing agreed actions
  • Maintain accurate store, department, grading and space data, and escalate gaps or inconsistencies
  • Prepare documentation, store summaries, project briefs, decision packs and stakeholder updates
  • Use data and reporting to support reviews of space performance, store opportunities and grading changes, including post-implementation reviews
  • Act as a coordination point across Space Planning, BU teams, Retail, VM, Store and Layout Planning, Field and Store teams
  • Capture process knowledge, decisions and handover notes to reduce reliance on individual SMEs

About You

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in retail space planning, or a closely related operational role
  • Good understanding of retail space planning, including macro space, grading, store layouts, space performance, concessions, tactical space and seasonal change
  • Ability to interpret commercial, operational and space data to support recommendations
  • Experience supporting operational activity, project coordination, stakeholder follow-up, analysis, documentation or business change
  • Strong written communication, with clear summaries, decision notes and handover materials
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint and OneNote
  • Highly organised and dependable, able to manage changing priorities and multiple stakeholders without losing detail
  • Practical and proactive, comfortable stepping in where the business needs support without waiting for detailed instructions
  • Resilient and adaptable, able to keep momentum when priorities shift
  • Desirable: understanding of store operations and retail critical paths; planning trackers such as Monday.com or Planner; awareness of Blue Yonder/JDA, RELEX and Power BI (system knowledge can be developed in post)
