About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Lead Service Engineer in Bristol to work for our client within the Finance sector. This is initially a 12-month contract.

As a Lead Service Engineer, you'll be tasked with a variety of responsibilities that are crucial to our client’s success, this is a senior leadership level role and will blend both technical expertise with great passion for coaching and developing people including advocation for team wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers to ensure the successful implementation of projects and services
  • Work within or lead cross-disciplinary teams by providing deep technical expertise, and leads the group in the resolution of service related and management issues, ensuring appropriate technical prioritisation
  • Develop and maintain high-quality service standards, ensuring all operations are flawless and adhere to industry regulations
  • Collaborate with feature teams and third parties to identify and implement creative solutions that align with business objectives
  • Supervise the maintenance and enhancement of service infrastructure, ensuring its reliability and efficiency
  • Monitor and analyse service performance metrics to continually improve the offerings
  • Develop and document processes to improve operational efficiency and service quality
  • The role accepts 24*7 accountability and ownership to support availability, currency, and performance
  • Accountability for defining policy and standards specific to role, ensuring compliance in line with appropriate risk and budget management
  • Develops and/or delivers budget plans for own area with guidance from senior colleagues
  • Provides input into the development of IT Security policies, develops underlying procedures, and monitors their implementation for area of responsibility within the organisation
  • Makes sure that a portfolio of suppliers are delivering required levels of service while reporting to senior colleagues

About You

Requirements
 
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within engineering
  • Breadth of technical understanding across software development and architecture, service operations, DevOps, and cloud
  • Proficiency in modern web and cloud programming languages and development frameworks (ideally React.js, node.js, Azure DevOps)
  • Strong communication skills, dynamic and adaptable, with the ability to facilitate efficient and effective decision-making
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a proactive and collaborative approach to finding solutions, and the ability to think strategically
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of mentoring and developing talent
  • Strong collaborator, capable of building and sustaining relationships at all levels
  • Ability to develop and/or deliver budget plans for your area with guidance from senior colleagues
