About The Role

The Analyst ITS Planning & Performance is accountable to support a variety of analysis activities critical to enable the Enterprise Portfolio Enablement team and the larger Information Technology Solutions division.  

 

Financial Forecasting:

  • Develop and lead processes to enable monthly financial forecasting for the Strategic and Sustaining project portfolio.
  • Assist in budget planning for the portfolio, ensuring all projects are financially sustainable and aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives.
  • Regularly review project budgets and actual expenditures, identifying variances and providing recommendations for cost optimization
  • Prepare reports to give senior leadership insights into portfolio financial health, including budget utilization, forecast accuracy, and future financial outlooks.

Resource Planning:

  • Develop and lead processes in partnership with Delivery Practice to enable annual resource planning to support Strategic and Sustaining project portfolio.
  • Conduct financial analysis and resource forecasting to assist in optimizing portfolio investments and ensuring the successful allocation of resources.

Development of Agile Reporting:

  • In collaboration with the Planning & Performance leadership team and the Delivery Practice, support the development of standardized Agile scorecards to support reporting on Objectives and Key Results.
  • Support agile project teams by providing clear visibility into portfolio objectives, prioritization, and capacity planning.

Portfolio Reporting:

  • Support Director Planning & Performance to establish regular Portfolio Management reporting cycle.
  • Track and evaluate portfolio performance, ensuring key performance indicators (KPIs) and OKRs are met.
  • Create and maintain dashboards and reports to provide insights into portfolio health, delivery progress, and resource utilization.
  • Provide in-depth analysis of portfolio trends, project outcomes, and variances from planned goals, and suggest corrective actions.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:

  • Engage with cross-functional teams, senior management, and stakeholders to understand their priorities and translate them into actionable plans within the portfolio.
  • Act as a liaison between portfolio management, project delivery teams, and business units to ensure consistent communication and transparency on performance.
  • Support governance processes by preparing updates for the Portfolio Steering Committee and other decision-making bodies.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and execute automation and simplification opportunities in reporting and analysis.
  • Continuously assess the performance of portfolio management processes and tools to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, resource utilization, and delivery outcomes.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to implement process improvements, ensuring smooth integration within agile delivery models.
  • Track the impact of improvement initiatives, using metrics and data to evaluate their success and refine them as needed.

About You

  • 3+ years of experience in portfolio management, project management, financial analysis, or performance reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • PMP, PMI-ACP, or other relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Strong understanding of both agile and waterfall delivery models, with experience working in hybrid environments
  • Proficiency in Analytical tools such as Excel (Advanced), Power BI, SQL, Co-Pilot etc. is crucial for data manipulation, statistical analysis, and automation of processes. 
  • Data Visualization: Experience using tools like Power BI, Tableau, etc. to create meaningful data visualizations.
  • Proficiency in Project Management and/or Agile tools including Azure Devops 
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to extract insights from complex data sets and provide recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare presentations for senior leadership
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to interpret data trends, draw insights, and provide actionable recommendations.  
  • Knowledge of financial services or credit union operations is an asset.
