About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Development Team Lead to join our Systems Development team at FDM. This role is pivotal in driving our global IT development and deployment initiatives, with a strong focus on .NET C# and MuleSoft technologies.

As the Development Team Lead, you will oversee a team of developers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical solutions that meet business needs. You’ll work across the entire software development lifecycle—from design through deployment—while also contributing to architectural decisions, platform strategy, and best practice governance. The role is office based 4 days a week from London or Leeds with a Friday working from home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of developers, providing technical guidance and fostering continuous growth.
  • Ensure timely delivery of applications and projects across the global FDM estate.
  • Design and document technical solutions for new and existing business applications.
  • Conduct and oversee peer code reviews and enforce high-quality coding standards.
  • Own the technical roadmap for core platforms including MuleSoft Anypoint Platform and CloudHub.
  • Drive the reuse and evolution of core reusable assets (C4E) and API lifecycle automation.
  • Collaborate with product vendors (e.g., MuleSoft) to align on platform capabilities and enhancements.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for critical platform support issues.
  • Guide and enforce API-led connectivity principles and platform governance.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (BA, Architects, Dev, Ops) to ensure end-to-end project success.
  • Identify technical risks and architectural challenges while promoting best practices.
  • Support strategic initiatives with technical design expertise.
  • Collaborate with the GRC team to ensure privacy is by default design in all architecture, integrations and deployments.
 

About You

Key Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of MuleSoft deployment models and platform management.
  • Hands-on experience across the full software development lifecycle including CI/CD, testing, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver technical architectures, including security, networking, and infrastructure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to translate technical concepts to business stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of API lifecycle management and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Strong command of API security, including OAuth2.0, encryption, and client credentials management.
  • Practical experience with cloud platforms (iPaaS, PaaS, IaaS, SaaS).Proficient in .NET C#, RESTful APIs, Visual Studio, and other modern development tools.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and alerting solutions that support key operational KPI

Experience Required:

  • 8+ years of experience in .NET C# development.
  • Proven experience in technical design and architecture roles.
  • Hands-on expertise with MuleSoft technologies and enterprise-level application delivery.
  • Strong background in Agile methodologies and team leadership.
  • Familiarity with Anypoint Platform and CloudHub.
  • Experience defining and enforcing technical policies and development standards.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (2:1 or above) in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading Agile software development teams.
  • Proficient in:
    • .NET Framework & .NET Core
    • Entity Framework, ASP.NET
    • SQL, Git, CI pipelines
    • JavaScript, HTML/CSS
    • REST API development and integration
    • Unit and integration testing

Desirable Skills & Technologies:

  • Familiarity with:
    • .NET 9.0, PowerShell, Azure, AWS
    • ReactJS, Blazor, Xamarin
    • Graph API, Selenium, Cucumber
    • Authentication frameworks (e.g., OAuth2.0)
