About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Programme Manager to work for our client within the Defence sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Solihull.

Our client is seeking a talented Programme Manager who will take full responsibility for the definition, documentation, and successful realisation of business outcomes from complex IT programmes. The successful candidate will select methods and tools, using iterative techniques where appropriate, ensuring that effective delivery control, change control, risk management and testing processes are maintained.

As the Programme Manager you  will be responsible for the delivery of business outcomes from IT Projects and IT workstreams within a programme to time, cost and quality using the client’s MSP &
Prince 2 aligned delivery management methodologies. These will be full Lifecycle Programmes covering all areas from initial business case response to benefits realisation and closure.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that programme & technical deliverables are to the required standard of quality, within the constraints of time and cost as defined as part of programme & IT workstream initiation
  • End to end programme delivery from response to business enquiry through to programme close down
  • Controlling and monitoring the programme against baseline programme definition document, plan and schedule
  • Direct management of programme team and 3rd parties (where applicable
  • Manage the programme in line with communication, quality, risk, and issues management plans to ITS standards
  • Responsible for managing budgets, providing accurate financial controls, and reporting in line with the client's financial cycle
  • Responsible for all spend on each IT workstream and therefore the aggregate programme budget
  • Ensure maximum probability that suppliers deliver in accordance with the contract
  • Work with IT vendor management to identify and proactively resolve supplier issues quickly and easily
  • Responsible for ensuring programme outcomes are fully supported within the relevant business and IT functions and that sign off is achieved
  • Identify areas for project consolidation both within a programme and across portfolios

About You

Requirements

  • Proven track record of managing programmes in a complex and regulated environment
  • Programme and project management certification (MSP/Prince2/APMP etc)
  • Comfortable with larger amounts of data and operating within a complex environment
  • A developed knowledge of programme management methodologies, tools and techniques
  • Ability to produce and present high quality formal reports and presentations within tight timelines
  • Developed management & leadership skills combining an open and inclusive approach with the ability to operate as a strong team player
  • Designing & implementing Programme management frameworks, ideally in a service environment
  • Experience working in a matrix organisation providing services across disparate locations, capabilities and stakeholders
  • Good listener, ability to evolve approaches and thinking, open to change
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be eligible for UK Government SC Clearance
