About The Role

This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (e.g. H1-B) for this position.

FDM is seeking a Fortinet Network Engineer located in Colts Neck, NJ. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 12 months but may be extended.

 

This role will be hybrid with requirements to be in office days per week.

 

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Level 2 Network Security Engineer with hands-on experience in Fortinet security solutions. The successful candidate will provide advanced support, configuration, and troubleshooting of Fortinet products including FortiGate firewalls, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, and other network components. This role requires strong analytical skills, experience with network security practices, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and support for Fortinet security appliances (e.g., FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, etc.).
  • Manage firewall policies, VPNs (IPSec/SSL), NAT, and UTM features.
  • Monitor, analyze, and respond to incidents and alerts.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of secure network solutions.
  • Provide Level 2 support for escalated issues from Level 1 engineers or clients.
  • Work closely with other IT teams to ensure security policies are implemented and enforced.
  • Maintain and update documentation, including network diagrams and procedures.
  • Participate in regular system audits and health checks.
  • Support firmware upgrades, patches, and configuration backups.
  • Create reports and logs for compliance and analysis using FortiAnalyzer or other tools.

About You

Required Qualifications:

  • 2–5 years of experience in network security or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with Fortinet products, especially FortiGate firewalls.
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, etc.).
  • Familiarity with IPS/IDS, content filtering, anti-virus, and application control.
  • Experience with VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL).
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fortinet NSE 4 certification (or higher) strongly preferred.
  • Experience with FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer.
  • Experience with FortiSwitch and FortiAP is a plus.
  • Knowledge of other network products (Cisco, Arista, Palo Alto) is also a plus.
