This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (e.g. H1-B) for this position.

FDM is seeking an API Tester located in St. Petersburg, FL to support a project in the financial services sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 12 months but may be extended.

This role will be hybrid with requirements to be in office 3 days per week.

 

Seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled API Service Tester to join a Quality Assurance team. In this role, you will be responsible for validating the functionality, reliability, performance, and security of internal and external API services that support our financial platforms. You will work closely with developers, business analysts, and DevOps teams to ensure high-quality software delivery in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and execute automated and manual test cases for RESTful and SOAP APIs.
  • Validate API functionality, data integrity, and performance using tools like Postman, SoapUI, Swagger, and JMeter.
  • Collaborate with developers and QA engineers to define test strategies and integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Analyze API specifications and requirements to identify test scenarios and edge cases.
  • Perform regression, integration, and system testing for API services.
  • Document defects clearly and track them through resolution using tools like JIRA or Azure DevOps.
  • Write and maintain test scripts using Java and query databases using SQL to validate backend data.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes and automation frameworks.

About You

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in API testing and quality assurance.
  • Strong knowledge of RESTful and SOAP web services.
  • Proficiency with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, SoapUI, Swagger).
  • Hands-on experience with Java for test automation and scripting.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for data validation and backend testing.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
  • Understanding of HTTP, JSON, XML, and authentication protocols (OAuth, JWT, etc.).

Preferred:

  • Experience in the financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
