About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Project Manager to work for our client within the finance sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Bournemouth.

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives within their banking and payments portfolio. This is a pivotal role that requires exceptional project delivery expertise, strong leadership, and a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory, operational, and technical landscape that defines the modern financial services industry.

You will drive high-impact transformation projects from initiation to delivery—partnering with key stakeholders across business, technology, and third-party vendors to shape and deliver payment solutions that are efficient, compliant, and aligned with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of strategic projects in the banking and payments domain, ensuring alignment with business goals, timelines, and budget
  • Define and manage detailed project plans, scopes, objectives, budgets, and resource allocations for each initiative
  • Oversee cross-functional teams comprising internal stakeholders from product, engineering, compliance, risk, operations, and external technology partners
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives—providing updates on status, risks, dependencies, and milestones
  • Act as the primary liaison between business and technology teams, ensuring that all project requirements, especially around payment systems, are accurately understood and executed
  • Ensure full compliance with relevant regulatory standards and internal governance frameworks, particularly those applicable to payments (e.g. FCA regulations, ISO 20022, PSD2)
  • Proactively manage project risks, issues, and changes in scope; escalate and resolve concerns effectively to keep projects on track
  • Track and report on KPIs and performance metrics, driving a culture of continuous improvement and accountability

About You

  • Proven track record of delivering large, complex programmes in matrixed or regulated environments
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, risk management, and operational requirements within banking and payments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to build trust with senior business leaders and technical teams alike
