About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an Application Support Manager to work for our client within the energy sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Chester.

Our client is seeking Application Support Manager to take full ownership of their core business applications, with a strong focus on Oracle technologies. This is a standalone, self-directed role which would be perfect for someone who enjoys a varied technical landscape, thrives on solving complex problems, and can bridge the gap between technology and business needs.

In this role, you’ll be the go-to expert ensuring our application estate runs smoothly, efficiently, and securely — from troubleshooting and vendor management to user support and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of day-to-day support, maintenance, and enhancement of our Oracle-based business applications
  • Be the primary point of contact for application-related incidents, requests, and upgrades
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, proactively monitoring application performance and stability
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, end-users, and external vendors to deliver enhancements, manage upgrades, and implement best practices
  • Manage integrations and reporting using the Microsoft suite (Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, etc.), ensuring seamless data flow and accessibility
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including application configurations, support processes, and user guides
  • Contribute to application lifecycle planning, helping the business assess needs, plan migrations, and evaluate future solutions

About You

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an application support or systems administration role
  • Expertise in Oracle platforms, with hands-on experience supporting Oracle-based applications (e.g., Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle Cloud, or similar)
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues independently
  • Comfortable managing a broad application portfolio with limited oversight
  • Practical knowledge of Microsoft tools: Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, Office 365
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Direct experience with Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS), Oracle Cloud, or similar ERP/enterprise systems
  • Exposure to ITIL principles and service management frameworks (e.g., incident, change, and problem management)
  • Basic SQL or scripting skills to assist in diagnostics or reporting tasks
