About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Lead Project Management Officer to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in London.

Our client is seeking a Lead Project Management Officer who will play a key role in driving the Plan to Make Work Pay initiative. You will also develop relationships across departments and oversee analysts to establish tools that align to strategic objectives and meet governance needs. The ideal candidate will have strong technical leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Launch a function that will lead programme management across the department’s interests
  • Oversee and Lead MWP Delivery Programme and ensure board governance structures are in line with strategic objectives
  • Review and align different related governance/reporting structures that exist across Government (No. 10; Cabinet Office; MHCLG) and within DBT (Delivery Unit; DBT Board oversight)
  • Liaise between senior leaders, project teams and 3rd parties
  • Develop the existing programme management trackers to support a new phase delivery of policy reforms on employment rights
  • Explore automating data gathering processes by giving seniors leaders and SRO the ability to track critical paths, dependencies and risk
  • Efficiently serve wider governance and reporting needs
  • Build community of practice of project management/delivery tracking across policy teams in Make Work Pay to set guiding principles on tracking activity at local and central levels and best practice for doing
  • Support the directorate to consider the flow of information from local teams to a central oversight function and track locally vs centrally the expectations

About You

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Project management within the public sector
  • Experience of overseeing a team of performance and data analysts to build a tracking and reporting tool, meeting the needs of the SRO and Programme Board
  • Stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Technical leadership skills in data and performance analysis
  • Strong excel and Power Bi skills
  • Experience with working across Government to gather information to track delivery milestones and programme level risks
