About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Programme Manager to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Bootle, Liverpool.

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Programme Manager to lead and manage the project and team on a day-to-day basis. You’ll be responsible for driving and overseeing the delivery of the programme to ensure that the objectives are clearly defined and achieved within agreed time, cost and quality constraints. You will also play a key role in project governance and working with stakeholders, to ensure the agreed project outputs are delivered to enable benefits to be realised.

This is an exciting opportunity to help lead, drive and deliver significant change across the client’s company, driven by a new strategy and several new, challenging transformation programmes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the project to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost and quality constraints while supporting governance, enabling decision making and providing delivery reports
  • Design project structure and organisation appropriate to stage while using suitable delivery methodologies, managing effective transition between project phases  
  • Develop a comprehensive business case with input from specialists, defining measurable benefits and outcomes while implementing a Benefits Realisation Strategy and monitoring long term delivery
  • Identify skill requirements and deploy and develop resources while maintaining the budget and tracking delivery
  • Establish and manage stakeholder and senior leader relationships internally and externally
  • Monitor project risks and issues to mitigate actions and escalate if required, while working with related projects to manage interdependencies  
  • Organise and engage with assurance processes and reviews such as gateway reviews while supporting recommendations
  • Ensure effective change management processes are in place and document changes to deliverables as agreed with stakeholders
  • Provide support, guidance and coaching to the project team, showing commitment to personal development and promoting effective individual and team performance
  • Translate strategic vision into delivery goals and establish effective project controls while monitoring performance to report progress to stakeholders

About You

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in programme managing within the public sector environment
  • Prince 2 (Practitioner level) accredited or equivalent or equivalent qualification
  • Proven track record of project management delivery  
  • Experience in managing budgets and cost benefit cases
  • Skilled in leading and managing teams  
  • Knowledge of project methodologies and software 
  • Excellent oral and written communications 
  • Solid Microsoft Office skills with ability to utilise modern technologies is highly desirable  
  • Ability to work within a complex or public sector environment with Government Digital Service Standards is a plus
