About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Project Manager to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in one of the multiple office locations around the UK including Manchester, London, Birmingham, Newcastle or Leeds. 

Our client is looking for an experienced Project Manager who has legal experience, through working in a legal company or on a legal project. As the Project Manager you will lead and manage the project and team daily. You’ll be responsible for driving and overseeing the delivery of the project, ensuring objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints. You’ll also play a key role in project governance as well as working with stakeholders, to ensure agreed project outputs are delivered to enable benefits to be realised.

This is an exciting opportunity to help lead, drive and deliver significant change across the client’s company, driven by a new strategy and several new and challenging transformation programmes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the project to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost and quality constraints while supporting effective governance, enabling decision making as well as reporting to account for delivery
  • Set project controls and design the project structure using organisation appropriate to stage with suitable delivery methodologies. As well as managing effective transition between project phases  
  • Develop the business case with input from specialists, defining measurable benefits and outcomes while implementing a Benefits Realisation Strategy and monitoring long term delivery of benefits
  • Develop and track delivery within budget while identifying skill requirements, deploying and expanding resources to manage medium sized team
  • Establish and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships with senior leader relationships
  • Monitor project risks, mitigate actions and escalate as needed while working with related projects to manage interdependencies
  • Organise and engage with assurance process such as gateway reviews and support recommendations
  • Ensure effective change management processes are in place and document changes to deliverables as agreed with stakeholders
  • Provide support, guidance and coaching for the project team, showing commitment to personal development while promoting effective individual and team performance
  • Translate strategic vision into delivery objectives and establish project controls while managing performance to report to stakeholders

About You

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Project Management with legal experience
  • Prince 2 (Practitioner level) accredited or equivalent or equivalent qualification  
  • Proven track record of project management delivery  
  • Experience of managing projects using Microsoft Project with knowledge of project methodologies and software 
  • Skilled in managing budgets and cost benefit cases  
  • Experience of leading and managing teams
  • Excellent oral and written communications 
Desirable 
  • Experience with managing projects using Project Online, Microsoft Project or similar tool
  • High Microsoft Office skills and ability to work smarter with modern technologies 
  • Experience working within a complex or public sector environment, adhering to Government Digital Service Standards
