About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Solutions Architect to work for our client within the financial services sector. This is initially a 12-month contract with the potential to extend and become permanent and will be a hybrid role based in Leeds or Bristol.

Our client is looking for a passionate and experienced Solutions Architect to join the Segments and Propositions Platform to help run and evolve one of the group’s most valued platforms. You’ll be a key contributor to the stability, performance, and scalability of services, supporting the organisations digital transformation and long-term technology vision. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the solution architecture for products that deliver customer value while meeting quality, resilience, financial, and technical goals
  • Define and align solution architecture plans with product roadmaps, ensuring technical feasibility, managing technical debt, while guiding teams through structured delivery aligning with business outcomes
  • Engage in solution reviews to ensure standard compliance while identifying and addressing risks in solution architecture, using architectural or agile methods
  • Research and recommend new technologies and tools to support innovative solution design and delivery
  • Ensure solutions are resilient, secure, and scalable, meeting non-functional requirements, aligning with enterprise architecture and technology strategy
  • Evaluate solution options while designing, using appropriate architectural building blocks for modern architectures
  • Work with stakeholders, across the organisation, communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical team members
  • Deliver solutions using agile practices, collaborating with feature teams and promoting iterative development for continuous customer value
  • Align with architectural standards and best practices, developing local standards as needed, while documenting technical debt or agreed non-compliance
  • Maintain and improve technical skills by guiding engineering teams on architectural solutions while staying updated on industry trends and best practices
  • Contribute to financial and technical planning, supporting product owners as well as platform leads

About You

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Solutions Architect, using a range of modern technologies (Single Page Applications technologies such as ReactJS), Mobile Native and Cross Platform Apps (Apple iOS, Android or React Native), Microservices, APIs and cloud technologies
  • Experience in Event Driven Architectures & Streaming Platforms such as Kafka
  • Proficiency in working with API standards, security and gateway patterns
  • Skilled in working with data technologies such as SQL/NoSQL and Big Data
  • Implementation experience in one of the cloud platforms, specifically GCP
  • Experience with API Gateways and Management Platforms such as IBM API Connect, IBM DataPower, Apigee or Microsoft Azure API Manager
  • Good understating of cloud storage, security, networking and resource provisioning

Desirable

  • Certification in GCP Professional Cloud Architect
  • Expert in data analysis with experience in agile / iterative design working practices
  • Knowledge of AI
