About The Role

This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (e.g. H1-B) for this position.

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy delivering client and industry driven solutions through our 5 core specialist Practices; Software Engineering, Data & Analytics, IT Operations, Change & Transformation, and Risk, Regulation & Compliance.

FDM is seeking a Data Engineer located in New York, NY to support a project in the Financial Services sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 12 month but may be extended.

This role will be hybrid with requirements to be in office 3 days per week.

  • Design, build and maintain scalable data stores (transactional, reference, aggregated risk) and data pipelines (streaming, batch) that feed into operational data stores, archives and DataMarts.
  • Use technologies such as relational databases (DB2, SQL Server, Greenplum), NoSQL or messaging (Kafka, MongoDB) and big‑data frameworks (Spark, Snowflake, Databricks).
  • Work in Agile environment (Scrum, continuous integration/refactoring/testing) and collaborate across global teams, business stakeholders (trading, sales, operations) and technical partners.
  • Possibly build BI/analytics solutions, data modelling, performance tuning, reconciliation of trade flows, etc.

About You

  • Strong SQL and relational database experience (e.g., DB2, SQL Server, Sybase, Greenplum) including performance tuning, stored procedures, queries.

  •  Programming / scripting: Python, Unix / shell scripting, automation of ETL workflows.

  • Familiarity (or willingness to learn) big‑data / streaming technologies: Kafka, Spark, Databricks, Snowflake.

  • Familiarity with data modelling, data pipelines, BI/visualization tools may be beneficial (especially for analytics‑heavy roles) e.g., Tableau, PowerBI.

  • Business domain awareness: understanding trade lifecycles, flows in investment banking operations, regulatory reporting.

  • Soft skills: good communication, collaborative teamwork, ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.

  • Data Engineer working with Snowflake, Python, Spark
