About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Project Manager to work for our client within the Financial Services sector. This is initially a 6 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid that will be based in Cheshire East.  

Our client is seeking experienced Senior Technical Project Manager to lead a major infrastructure programme. This initiative involves migrating a legacy system supporting 5–6 million customers across 21 platforms, to a modern operating environment. The role will focus on evaluating options for moving the system to a new platform and ensuring a seamless transition.

Responsibilities 

  • Lead the migration of the legacy system from Unix systems to a new operating environment.
  • Assess and define strategic options for platform upgrades, including cloud adoption.
  • Manage infrastructure projects involving operating system upgrades and application support.
  • Minimize technical and operational risks throughout the migration process.
  • Coordinate with cloud engineering teams, infrastructure teams, and multiple stakeholders to ensure alignment.
  • Oversee planning, network implications, and technical considerations for on-premise to cloud transitions.
  • Drive full project lifecycle delivery, from initiation to implementation and post-migration support.

About You

  • Proven track record in infrastructure project management, particularly operating system upgrades and migrations.
  • Strong technical background with Unix/Linux systems and cloud technologies.
  • Experience in on-premise to cloud transitions, including Oracle database migrations.
  • Deep understanding of network implications, security considerations, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to manage complex programmes involving multiple systems and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with application software and infrastructure environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
