About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Performance Analyst to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 4 month contract with the potential to extend and will be hybrid role based at one of several office locations across the North and South of the UK.
  

Our client is seeking a Performance Analyst to support a government client in delivering strategic transformation and operational excellence. The role sits within a multidisciplinary Change Team comprising professionals in programme delivery, business improvement, and transformation. You will work closely with colleagues across planning, finance, digital, and operational functions to deliver actionable insights that inform decision-making and improve service performance.

This role reports to the Senior Performance Analyst and contributes to the development of performance frameworks, KPI tracking, and data-led recommendations that support continuous improvement across the client’s portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting business challenges and translating them into performance-focused analytical outputs.
  • Designing and maintaining performance reporting frameworks, dashboards, and KPIs to support service delivery and strategic goals.
  • Collecting, preparing, and analysing complex datasets (qualitative and quantitative) to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Producing clear, compelling visualisations and reports that inform senior stakeholders and operational teams.
  • Forecasting the impact of change initiatives on performance metrics and advising on mitigation strategies.
  • Supporting benefits tracking and performance assurance across programmes and projects.
  • Collaborating with digital and IT teams to ensure data integrity and accessibility across systems.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure performance insights are understood and embedded in decision-making.
  • Providing line or matrix management support to junior analysts, where required.
  • Championing best practice in performance analysis, data modelling, and reporting across the team and wider organisation.

  • Development and implementation of robust performance frameworks aligned to client priorities.
  • Timely and accurate reporting against agreed KPIs and benefits.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Contribution to post-implementation reviews and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support and mentoring of junior colleagues within the team.

About You

  • Proven experience in a performance analysis, data analytics, or operational insight role.
  • Strong track record of translating business needs into performance metrics and actionable insights.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, SQL, and Power BI (or equivalent).
  • Experience working in project or programme environments, balancing competing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

Desirable Experience:

  • Understanding of public sector data governance and protection standards.
  • Degree in a numerate discipline (e.g. data science, economics, statistics, computer science).
  • Experience with cloud-based analytics platforms (e.g. Azure).
