Test Lead – Snowflake Migration (Australia)

Join a global banking leader as a Test Lead on a major data platform transformation, migrating regulatory reporting from SQL server to Snowflake. 

You'll define and lead the testing strategy across all phases, from platform validation to data comparison and parallel runs, ensuring accuracy, performance, and reliability. 

We're looking for a detail-driven expert with strong experience in data migration testing, Snowflake, and SQL Server, plus the leadership skills to coordinate across multiple teams and vendors. 

Key responsibilities:

 Leadership & Strategy

• Serve as the Test Lead on the Snowflake migration project, reporting into the program leadership team.
• Define and own the end-to-end test strategy, covering platform testing, unit and system testing, regression, and parallel run validation.
• Establish and drive testing best practices, ensuring they transition into BAU processes post-migration.
• Coordinate with development, data engineering, and business teams to ensure timely defect resolution and sign-off.

Test Planning & Execution

• Lead creation of detailed test plans, test scripts, and regression frameworks for data and process validation.
• Oversee core platform testing – integration points, network, security, and disaster recovery validation.
• Direct unit and system testing of converted code (procedures, orchestration jobs).
• Manage end-to-end data reconciliation and comparison tests between SQL server and Snowflake environments.
• Design and oversee parallel run execution to ensure regulatory data parity. 

Automation & Tooling

• Develop or implement automated data comparison frameworks within Snowflake or using external tools.
• Drive automation in JIRA bug creation, test case generation (AI-driven or otherwise), and test reporting.
• Identify opportunities to enhance testing efficiency through custom scripts, frameworks, or accelerator tools. 

Governance & Reporting

• Maintain transparent reporting on test progress, risks, and quality metrics to stakeholders.
• Ensure regulatory traceability of test results and data validation checkpoints.
• Support audit and compliance reviews related to data integrity and testing practices.

Key Skills & Experience 

Essential:

• 8+ years in software/data testing, with at least 3 years as a Test Lead on large-scale data or cloud migration programs.
•  Strong hands-on experience with SQL server, SSIS, and Snowflake data environments.
• Deep understanding of ETL testing, data reconciliation, and regression analysis.
• Proven experience in designing and managing automated testing frameworks for data migration or warehousing systems.
• Strong understanding of JIRA, test management tools, and reporting automation.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable:

•  Experience with SnowConvert or similar code conversion tools.
•  Knowledge of QlikSense or other BI/reporting validation testing.
•  Familiarity with AI-based test automation tools.
•  Background in regulatory reporting or financial services.
