About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Business Data Analyst to work for our client within the Financial Services sector. This is initially a 6–12 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Edinburgh, Glasgow or Manchester.

Our client is seeking an experienced Business Data Analyst to support a large-scale data migration and transformation programme, involving the movement of complex legacy data into a modern platform. This role will focus on assessing and managing the impact of data changes across reporting, MI systems, and downstream data products, ensuring accuracy and stability of critical outputs.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct detailed impact analysis of migrating legacy data into a new platform, focusing on downstream reporting and MI systems
  • Assess the impact of data transformations, newly created data, and deprecated data across existing data products
  • Support the completion and sign-off of Impact Analysis documentation
  • Coordinate delivery across multiple data functions, including Data Engineering, Analytics, Visualisation, Governance, and Management teams
  • Ensure data integrity and stability of reporting outputs, including regulatory and business reporting
  • Facilitate workshops and stakeholder sessions to gather requirements and validate impacts
  • Produce key Business Analysis artefacts, including process maps, data flows, and requirements documentation
  • Manage risks, issues, and dependencies, ensuring appropriate mitigation and tracking
  • Support testing activities, including defining scenarios and validating outputs
  • Work within an Agile delivery framework, contributing to sprint planning and execution

About You

  • Strong experience as a Business Data Analyst within large-scale data or transformation programmes
  • Proven expertise in: Requirement gathering and documentation (BRDs, FRDs), Process mapping and data flow analysis, Impact analysis and change assessment, Data modelling and data lifecycle understanding
  • Experience working with modern data platforms (e.g., Databricks or similar)
  • Strong understanding of data pipelines, transformations, and downstream data consumption
  • Experience working with MI/reporting systems and data products
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies
  • Ability to manage stakeholders across business and technical teams
  • Experience working in financial services or other regulated environments
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in Business/Data Analysis
