About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Data Support specialist to work for our client within the Banking sector. This is initially a 6 month contract with very good prospects to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in London.

Our client is seeking a technically skilled Data Support Specialist with hands‑on experience in SQL‑to‑Snowflake migration, data extraction from Avaloq, and usage of the Snowflake Data Marketplace. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in modern data platforms and can provide operational and technical support to internal teams during and after migration initiatives.

You will work closely with data engineers, business analysts, and stakeholders to ensure smooth data flows, accurate extraction processes, and optimal Snowflake performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Support ongoing and planned data migration projects from SQL-based systems to Snowflake, including troubleshooting and environment support.
  • Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes from Avaloq using approved tools and interfaces.
  • Manage, maintain, and optimize datasets in Snowflake, ensuring accuracy, performance, and alignment with governance standards.
  • Assist in evaluating and integrating datasets from the Snowflake Data Marketplace.
  • Provide day‑to‑day operational support to business and technology users, including incident resolution, data access queries, and platform troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to maintain data pipelines and improve data flows.
  • Document processes, support runbooks, and technical procedures.
  • Uphold data quality, security, and compliance practices across all managed platforms. 

About You

  • 3+ years of experience working with SQL and supporting SQL-based data environments.
  • Proven experience migrating datasets, schemas, or environments from SQL to Snowflake.
  • Hands‑on experience extracting and handling data from Avaloq (essential).
  • Strong proficiency with Snowflake, including: Data Modelling, Snowflake roles, warehouses and tasks, working with the Snowflake Data Marketplace, Performance Tuning and Knowledge of ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration tools (e.g., Informatica, Matillion, DBT, Airflow).
  • Experience with APIs, stored procedures, and automation scripts is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving mindset.
  • Clear communicator, able to work across technical and non‑technical teams.
  • Able to work in a high‑performing support environment with competing priorities.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in financial services or wealth management environments.
  • Familiarity with Avaloq Banking Suite integrations.
  • Snowflake certifications (e.g., SnowPro Core, SnowPro Advanced).
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
