About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Data Security & AI Specialist to work for our client within the retail sector. This is initially a 6 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Leeds.

Our client is seeking Data Security & AI Specialist. 
This role establishes the retailer’s data security governance, DSPM, DLP, and AI‑related security controls. The specialist will work closely with GRC, data teams, and technology owners to define data frameworks, classify data assets, and implement controls across GCP and other cloud environments. The retailer is not currently PCI/GDPR compliant, making the uplift highly impactful.
 
Responsibilities: 
 
  • Define and lead data security governance frameworks across the organisation.
  • Support DSPM, DLP, and AI‑related security strategies across GCP and wider cloud platforms.
  • Build data tagging, classification, and reporting structures.
  • Partner with GRC on governance, policies, and regulatory alignment.
  • Define controls, standards, and processes for data risk ownership.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and tooling improvements.

About You

  • Strong background in data security, DSPM, DLP, or cloud data governance.
  • Experience with GCP security services and cloud data architectures.
  • Knowledge of GDPR, PCI DSS, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience designing data classification frameworks.
Desirable:
 
  • Experience with DSPM platforms (BigID, Securiti, OneTrust, Varonis).
  • Experience with M365 DLP, GCP DLP, or enterprise DLP suites.
  • Experience uplifting data governance functions in large organisations.
