About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Release Manager to work for our client within the Public Services sector. This is initially a 6 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a largely remote role with the occassional need to go to Solihull.

Our client is seeking an experienced Release Manager with a strong engineering or development background to support and enhance our release, deployment, and environment‑management processes across the Power Platform and Dynamics 365 ecosystem. In this role, you will initially take ownership of our current release framework and, over time, play a key part in evolving it into a more efficient, automated, and streamlined deployment model.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in technical release management, champions automation, and understands the complexities of enterprise‑scale application lifecycle management.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, manage, and optimise Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, with a focus on YAML-based automation for build, validation, and deployment of Power Platform and Dynamics 365 solutions.
  • Oversee the full Power Platform solution lifecycle, including solution segmentation, branching strategy, environment planning (DEV/QA/UAT/PROD), and managed/unmanaged solution handling.
  • Implement and maintain secure ALM tooling integrations, such as Power Platform Build Tools, PAC CLI, service connections, and Azure Key Vault for authentication and configuration management.
  • Ensure robust governance and compliance, including environment controls, deployment approval workflows, and adherence to enterprise changemanagement processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve endtoend deployment issues, such as solution import failures, dependency conflicts, Azure DevOps pipeline errors, and Dynamics/Power Platform component deployment failures.
  • Continuously improve and modernise the release process, helping transition the organisation from current practices toward a faster, more reliable, automated deployment model.
  • Collaborate with development, engineering, and architecture teams to align release activities with solution design and operational standards.
  • Provide technical leadership and documentation, ensuring release processes are well-governed, consistent, and repeatable.

About You

  • Extensive handson experience with Azure DevOps CI/CD, particularly modern YAML pipelines for Power Platform and Dynamics 365.
  • Strong understanding of Power Platform ALM, including environment strategy, solution lifecycle, and branching models.
  • Proficiency with ALM tools and integrations, such as Power Platform Build Tools, PAC CLI, service connections, and Azure Key Vault.
  • Deep knowledge of governance and compliance controls, including deployment approvals, security boundaries, and enterprise change management.
  • Advanced troubleshooting capabilities, able to diagnose and resolve issues across pipelines, solutions, environments, plugins, and flows.
  • Engineering or developer background, enabling strong technical understanding of solution structure and deployment architecture.
  • Experience supporting multienvironment enterprise platforms, ideally in largescale Power Platform or Dynamics 365 estates.
  • A continuousimprovement mindset, with the ability to help shape future release frameworks and drive automation.
