About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy, and we’re currently looking for an experienced Full Stack Data Engineer to join our client within the banking sector. This is initially a 6-month fixed term contract (with the potential to extend) and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Krakow. In this role, you will support the transformation of one of the industry’s largest Big Data ecosystems. You will be entrusted to develop solutions/design ideas, identify design ideas to enable the software to meet the acceptance and success criteria and work with architects/BA to build data component on the data environment.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop software components using Scala/Java within an Agile, DevOps driven environment
  • Build automated tests and contribute to modern engineering practices and coding standards
  • Translate business requirements into clear technical stories and contribute to product and feature design
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, working hands on across Hadoop, Spark and cloud based data environments
  • Troubleshoot, support and enhance existing data validation processes
  • Collaborate closely with BAs, Testers, Data Scientists and fellow Engineers across global teams
  • Contribute to sprint ceremonies, reviews and retrospectives while helping shape system architecture
  • Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing sessions to ensure continuous improvement
  • Work with less documentation and testing complex multi-tiered integrated applications

About You

Requirements:
  • 4+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Hands on experience with Java (1.7 and 1.8), Scala and/or Python in Unix/Linux environments
  • Strong practical understanding of Hadoop ecosystem components, including Spark, Hive, Kafka, HBase and related tooling
  • Experience designing and building scalable data pipelines (Sqoop, Hive, Pig, Spark SQL)
  • Solid SQL skills and experience working with structured and semi structured datasets
  • Exposure to Elasticsearch or similar analytics databases is a plus
  • Familiarity with Git/GitHub, CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and automation frameworks including Ansible
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum (JIRA) or DevOps environments 
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple workstreams and collaborate with global teams
  • Strong communication and stakeholder alignment capabilities
  • Understanding of big-data modelling (relational and non-relational)
  • Experience debugging code and working with architects and developers
  • Understanding or experience of cloud design patterns
