This is initially a 6 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Edinburgh or Cheshire.

This role will provide technical leadership across the design, implementation, and optimisation of Rubrik backup and recovery solutions spanning on‑premises, hybrid, and multi‑cloud environments. The position also plays a key part in embedding ongoing backup operations, ensuring daily job health, supporting disaster recovery planning, and leveraging Rubrik’s security and threat detection capabilities.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a large‑scale transformation with long‑term potential to extend.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the onboarding and configuration of the Rubrik Security Cloud Platform.
  • Manage daily backup operations, monitor backup job status, troubleshoot failures, and ensure platform stability.
  • Design, test, and execute disaster recovery (DR) plans, ensuring secure configurations and compliance alignment.
  • Utilise Rubrik's built‑in security features for threat detection, ransomware response, and data risk visibility.
  • Automate backup and recovery processes using PowerShell, Python, and Rubrik APIs.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams across Infrastructure, Cloud, Cyber, and Application teams.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to stakeholders as the Rubrik subject matter expert.

About You

  • 5+ years' experience in data protection, backup engineering, and disaster recovery.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and administering Rubrik solutions in enterprise environments.
  • Strong technical knowledge across operating systems, databases, and virtualisation technologies (VMware).
  • Familiarity with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python, APIs).
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder collaboration abilities.
