About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Business Analyst – Bulk Purchase Annuities (BPA) to work for our client within the Insurance / Pensions sector. This is a 6‑month contract with strong prospects to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Edinburgh.

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support the delivery of BPA customer communications, focusing on the creation and configuration of Microsoft Word templates for their third‑party solution. You will play a key role in ensuring high‑quality Retirement Quote and Retirement Settlement communications for end BPA customers.

Responsibilities: 
 
  • Work with colleagues within the BPA Project Team and BPA Policyholder Services team to understand required letter content, scenarios, and variations to produce Word templates aligned to workflow processes.
  • Collaborate with the 3rd‑party vendor to define and map required "merge field" data for template integration.
  • Review provided content, structure the documents and apply complex conditional paragraph logic using bespoke Word syntax.
  • Respond to queries from the 3rd‑party vendor, providing documentation and clarification to support their development into the third-party solution. 
  • Access and maintain shared folders, updating documentation versions for templates already built into workflows.
  • Refresh documentation into the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) environment.
  • Conduct testing to confirm refreshed documentation meets specification requirements ahead of formal system testing and promotion to production.
  

About You

  • Strong experience working within pensions; DB pensions experience advantageous.
  • Advanced Microsoft Word skills, including creating templates and applying complex conditional logic.
  • Ability to understand and interpret business rules, workflow scenarios and customer communication requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across internal teams and third‑party vendors.
  • Strong documentation and testing capability, ideally within customer communications or workflow‑driven environments.
  • Experience working with third‑party systems is beneficial.
