About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Futures IT Support to work for our client within the Financial Services sector. This is initially a 12‑month contract, with the potential to extend, and is a fully office‑based role located in London.

Our client is seeking a senior, hands‑on Front Office Trading Systems Support Analyst to join their London trading operation. This role supports Futures trading and post‑trade settlement systems, acting as first‑line technical and functional support for front‑office and clearing workflows.

In this highly visible position, you will work closely with Traders, Operations, Technology, and Infrastructure teams to ensure high‑availability trading, resilient exchange connectivity, and stable end‑to‑end processing across front‑office and settlement platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide real‑time front‑office support for Futures trading systems, monitoring order flow, executions, positions, and exchange connectivity across EMEA market hours.
  • Support and troubleshoot trading and settlement platforms, including front‑office execution and downstream clearing and reconciliation processes.
  • Manage and investigate exchange connectivity and session stability, diagnosing issues related to messaging, latency, connectivity drops, sequencing, and platform behaviour.
  • Perform production incident management, including triage, trader and stakeholder communication, root‑cause analysis, and contribution to post‑incident reviews.
  • Support change and release activities, including testing, UAT coordination, production readiness checks, and controlled deployments.
  • Work closely with Infrastructure and vendor teams to resolve application, network, and environment‑related issues impacting trading or settlement.
  • Enhance system monitoring and operational resilience, leveraging existing monitoring tools to identify issues early and reduce MTTR.
  • Assist with reporting, automation, and operational improvements, streamlining support processes and improving system transparency.
  • Ensure system behaviour aligns with regulatory and operational requirements, supporting controls related to FCA, EMIR, and exchange obligations.

About You

  • 7–20 years of experience supporting trading or market‑facing systems within Financial Services.
  •  Strong knowledge of Futures trading workflows, including execution, clearing, and settlement lifecycles.
  • Hands‑on experience with Futures trading and settlement platforms, such as: Trading Technologies (TT) for front‑office execution ION and/or FIS for post‑trade processing and settlement.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose issues across applications, messaging, connectivity, and infrastructure layers.
  • Experience working with system monitoring and alerting tools, and responding effectively to live production issues.
  • Proficiency in scripting or automation (e.g. Python, Shell, PowerShell) for diagnostics, reporting, or process improvement is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, session management, latency sensitivity) in a trading environment.
  • Previous front‑office or trading‑floor support experience, comfortable working in high‑pressure, time‑critical situations.
  • Good understanding of regulatory frameworks such as FCA and EMIR, and their impact on trading system operations and controls.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with Traders, Operations, Technology, and external vendors.
