About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Data Governance Lead to work for our client within the Financial Services sector. This is initially a 6 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a fully remote role that will be based in Remote.

Our client is seeking a Data Governance Lead to bridge
regulatory requirements and technical delivery, ensuring that critical data used in financial crime detection is accurate, controlled, and fully traceable.

The successful candidate will work closely with business, compliance, and technology teams, particularly around Quantexa and transaction monitoring systems to define and implement data controls, improve data quality, and establish clear ownership and lineage across complex data ecosystems. With a strong emphasis on practical execution, the role drives governance into day-to-day operations, enabling more effective risk detection, regulatory compliance, and decision making.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate regulatory and business requirements into practical data controls, ensuring alignment across transaction monitoring and AML systems.
  • Define and implement data governance frameworks, including ownership, stewardship, lineage, and control structures across critical data elements (CDEs).
  • Establish and maintain data quality controls, including rules, monitoring, reconciliation checks, and issue remediation processes to ensure data integrity.
  • Work closely with technology teams and platforms (e.g. Quantexa / TM systems) to validate data pipelines, scoring inputs, and upstream/downstream data flows.
  • Drive data governance execution in practice, embedding controls and standards into day-to-day operations rather than purely policy design.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (Compliance, IT, Architecture, Business) to define data ownership, responsibilities (RACI), and governance scope across complex data ecosystems.

About You

    • Minimum of 6 years of experience in data governance and data management, including ownership models, data lineage, and implementation of governance frameworks in live environments.
    • Hands-on data quality and data stewardship experience, including defining rules, monitoring data quality, and managing issue remediation processes (not just designing policy).
    • Experience working within AML / Transaction Monitoring environments, with an understanding of how data supports alert generation, investigations, and financial crime controls.
    • Exposure to complex data ecosystems, including multiple upstream data sources and end-to-end data pipelines (ingestion, transformation, and consumption).
    • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional stakeholders, including compliance, business, and technology teams, to define data ownership and governance responsibilities.
