About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Finance Business Analyst to work for our global systems integrator client on an end client programme within the Public Services sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with very good prospects to extend and will be a hybrid role based in London. 

We are seeking an experienced Finance Business Analyst; who will report to the Lead Solution Architect and Designer; to assess the business model and its integration with technology; essentially acting as a bridge between the business problems and the technical solution. The role involves understanding business requirements which clearly address business needs and align with business processes.  

Our client is also looking for individuals with experience working on a varied range of projects from process improvement, digital transformation, change facilitation and service design/improvement.  

Responsibilities

  • Review the programme Finance Engine transaction matching/reconciliation and Exceptions Handling logic against original client requirements (and industry best-practice). Work with vendor to define logic in edge cases/unhappy path Logic will likely be coded in XML.
  • Define Acceptance Criteria for the Finance Engine.
  • Drive/support the migration of financial/payment transaction data from the current Finance Engine Operator
  • Model and map business processes and assist with the development of solutions to address business problems and improve business processes
  • Work with internal & external development teams to oversee the implementation of new technology and systems
  • Produce detailed User Stories that offer a description of the situation, identify the scenario, document the business requirements, and specify the necessary acceptance criteria
  • Produce all relevant further documentation and information which is in line with business requirements (BRDs, Traceability Matrix etc.)
  • Design UAT Test Scripts/Test Cases for the Finance Engine.
  • To lead the required implementation of identified business process re-engineering activities, providing information, and generating solutions as determined within the projects.
  • Document Training requirements for the Finance Engine. Review the training plan/collateral produced by the Finance Engine developer/vendor.
  • Work with the Finance Partner to define the Finance Team Standard Operating Processes/Procedures (SOPs).
  • Review/refine Finance Engine monitoring framework and service KPIs.

About You

  • Design or operation of transaction matching and reconciliation engines for trading venues, online Payment Service Providers (EMIs, PIs), crypto-wallet operators, online marketplaces, gaming/gambling operators, large e-commerce merchants/Merchant Acquirers/Acquirer Processors, Accounting/Finance Engine vendors.
  • Mapping/design of finance operational processes in back-office, time critical environments.
  • Design/definition of SOPs for back-office Finance Ops teams in the types of organisations listed above.
  • Analysis/design of financial transaction matching & reconciliation workflows in high-volume/high-availability, time-Critical Use Cases that leverage multi-vendor infrastructure and inputs
    • Analysis of financial reporting operational workflows in high-availability, time-critical Use Cases.
    • Analysis of operational & lifecycle management requirements (monitoring, alert generation, operational resilience) for systems and processes that support transaction matching/reconciliation and reporting Use Cases.

  • Experience of working within a complex delivery environment
  • Management of external vendor ecosystems to review/refine and accept deliverables.
  • Execution of financial/payment transaction data migrations onto a new platform.
  • Definition of Test/User acceptance tests, scripts. requirements and associated Criteria.
  • Definition of of service monitoring framework requirements for Finance Engine platforms operated by the organisation listed above.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people at all levels of an organisation.
  • An understanding of systems architecture and the human interaction with the components of the system
  • Time management and organisational skills
  • A good knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma, preferably with Yellow or Green Belt certification, or commitment to completion of Yellow/Green Belt.
  • Demonstrable ability to think analytically and with criticality to resolve problems and develop solutions.
  • Excellent planning and organising skills, taking an organised and methodical approach to identify priorities, maximise time and ensure the achievement of business objectives.
