About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy and are seeking a Data Engineer to work for our client within the banking sector. This is initially a 6‑month contract with potential to extend, operating in a hybrid model 3 days a week from London.

You will play a critical part in building scalable data integrations, data models and analyses within Celonis, ensuring that insights are accurate, reliable and aligned to business needs. Working closely with technical teams, SMEs and operational stakeholders, you will be responsible for translating raw process data into actionable intelligence through Celonis PQL, dashboards, action flows and automation frameworks. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with strong Celonis expertise looking to join a high-profile programme with significant visibility, impact and scope for long-term extension.

 Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain Celonis Data Integrations from source systems relating to KYC and associated processes
  • Develop, optimise and validate Celonis Data Models, ensuring alignment with process logic and data structures
  • Design, build and maintain Celonis analyses, dashboards and KPIs to surface process bottlenecks, deviations and improvement opportunities
  • Implement and enhance Celonis Action Flows, alerts and automations, driving proactive operational intervention
  • Analyse and interpret datasets using SQL, supporting data validation, reconciliation and root-cause investigations
  • Conduct impact assessments for system changes, logic updates or upstream data modifications and evaluate the effect on Celonis models and analyses
  • Troubleshoot, debug and optimise existing Celonis assets, ensuring performance, accuracy and maintainability
  • Work collaboratively with business and technical teams to ensure insights are aligned with operational requirements and governance standards

About You

  • Strong hands-on experience with Celonis, including PQL, data modelling, dashboard creation and action flows
  • Proven experience integrating data from complex source systems, ideally within KYC, financial crime or regulated banking environments
  • Proficiency in SQL and strong analytical capability to interpret, validate and troubleshoot complex datasets
  • Understanding of data models, ETL processes and data flows across operational systems
  • Ability to diagnose issues in data logic, model structure or query performance, and propose optimisation strategies
  • Confident communicating technical details to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify risks, issues and dependencies within process mining workflows
  • Experience working within structured governance frameworks and regulated environments
