About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Lead Business Analyst to support a major, multiyear transformation programme within the Financial Services sector. This is initially a 4 month contract with potential to extend and is a Hybrid role based in Edinburgh.

You will play a key role in shaping the bigger picture while also delivering detailed business designs, processes and functional requirements. This transformation involves significant operational, technological and people‑centric change, including major platform transitions, process redesign, data‑focused improvements and enhancements to workflow, telephony and CRM capabilities.

We are looking for candidates with proven experience in large‑scale transitions or complex change environments, who can operate confidently across both strategic and detailed analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead analysis on large and/or complex change initiatives.
  • Support and guide Business Analysts, providing direction on approach and outputs.
  • Demonstrate strong data analysis capability.
  • Plan, track and re‑plan analysis activities as required across multiple workstreams.
  • Build excellent relationships with stakeholders and communicate effectively.
  • Manage and prioritise work across several concurrent pieces of activity.
  • Work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to define and implement suitable solutions.
  • Produce detailed and high‑quality documentation such as project plans, scope definitions, business requirements, process maps and options papers.

About You

  • Highly advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience with a broad set of business analysis techniques, tools and standards.
  • Strong understanding of business structures and core business principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to manage your own workload while supporting colleagues as needed.
  • Deep knowledge of your specialist area (where applicable).
  • A self‑starter with strong delivery focus, comfortable working in fast‑paced environments.
  • Experience in the financial sector is an advantage.
  • Strong data skills beneficial (e.g., SQL, Power BI).
  • Well‑developed BA toolkit, including workshop facilitation, requirements gathering, process modelling, gap analysis, data modelling and analysis.
  • Migrations experience is an advantage.
