About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Target Operating Model Design Lead / Business Architecture Lead to work for our client within the Financial Services/Regulated Enterprise sector. This is initially a 6 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in London.

Our client is seeking a Senior TOM design specialist to support a large scale Target Operating Model implementation programme. A high level future state operating model has already been defined, however this remains conceptual. The focus of this role is to translate that high level intent into a detailed, implementable lower level design. This includes designing decision rights, governance, service models, operating capabilities and transition states for a complex, multi business unit organisation. This role requires someone who can design genuinely new operating models rather than incremental changes to the current state.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the detailed design of the future state Target Operating Model, translating high level concepts into practical, implementable designs
  • Design a clear decision rights framework and future organisation wide governance model
  • Develop a comprehensive organisation capability model and align future functional designs across enabling functions and delivery business units
  • Design the service model governing how business units access centrally delivered services, including funding models, demand management, prioritisation and service levels
  • Define cross functional integration points, workflows and handoffs across enabling functions and business units
  • Design transition states from current to future operating model, including sequencing, dependencies and risks
  • Engage senior stakeholders and walk them through design approaches, decisions and prior TOM delivery experience

About You

  • Proven experience leading detailed Target Operating Model design within large, complex organisations
  • Strong background in business architecture and operating model design, including capability modelling, functional design and service models
  • Demonstrable experience designing decision rights frameworks and organisation wide governance models
  • Experience designing and documenting cross functional processes, workflows and integration points across business units and enabling functions
  • Ability to translate high level TOM concepts into detailed, implementable designs rather than conceptual artefacts
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work credibly with senior leadership
  • Experience working in regulated or complex enterprise environments such as financial services, infrastructure, public sector or large scale corporates
  • Hands on experience using tools and standards such as LeanIX, ArchiMate, BPMN, Visio, PowerPoint and Excel for operating model design and documentation
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Target Operating Model design, business architecture, operating model transformation or closely related disciplines
