About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Database Administrator to work for our client within the financial technology sector. This is initially a 6-month fixed-term contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Gdansk.

Our client is seeking a database professional with strong hands-on experience across PostgreSQL and Snowflake environments, alongside practical exposure to SQL Server and Oracle. This role will support both production and non-production environments, helping to ensure database performance, reliability, security and scalability across transactional systems and cloud data warehouse platforms. The position will also partner closely with application, analytics and platform teams to support database operations and delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer, monitor and optimise PostgreSQL and Snowflake databases across production and non-production environments
  • Support database migration activity from PostgreSQL to Snowflake
  • Perform database performance tuning, query optimisation and index / partition management
  • Implement and manage backup, recovery and disaster recovery solutions
  • Support database security, user access, role management and auditing
  • Work with application and analytics teams on schema design and deployment support
  • Maintain operational documentation and follow best practice processes
  • Assist with SQL Server and Oracle development and support tasks

About You

Requirements:

  • Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, AWS RDS Aurora and Snowflake
  • Additional experience with SQL Server, Oracle and DynamoDB
  • Experience working within the AWS cloud platform
  • Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, optimisation and support
  • Experience managing backup, recovery, security and access controls
  • Ability to work effectively across production and non-production environments
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical teams
  • Exposure to DevOps or CI/CD pipelines would be beneficial
  • Experience with database migration or cloud data warehouse projects would be advantageous
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in database administration, engineering or a related role
