About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Data Engineer to work for our client within the insurance sector. This is initially a 12-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a fully remote role based in Poland.

Our client is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support a Broker Data Remediation programme within the Matrix platform. This role will be responsible for implementing and optimising data models and transformation pipelines to support a clean, governed and analytics-ready broker data domain. The successful candidate will bring strong SQL, PySpark and Databricks expertise, alongside proven data modelling capability, to help resolve long-standing data issues across multiple source systems. This is a tactical delivery role with strong potential for extension into a strategic build phase, particularly for candidates with Google Cloud Platform experience.

Responsibilities

  • Build and optimise ETL / ELT pipelines in Databricks using SQL, Python and Delta Lake
  • Implement broker remediation logic to support clean, accurate and scalable data assets within the Matrix platform
  • Translate logical and conceptual models into physical data models aligned to platform standards
  • Develop transformation logic for deduplication, hierarchy management, hash key generation and SCD Type 2 processing
  • Design and implement data models using star schema, snowflake schema and master data patterns
  • Support the creation of a reliable Broker Golden Record across multiple source systems
  • Engineer automated data quality and standardisation logic, including fuzzy matching and hierarchy formation
  • Work with Data Governance to embed data quality rules, metadata and lineage into pipelines
  • Support deployment into Matrix landing and refined layers in line with platform conventions
  • Collaborate with data, platform and business stakeholders to refine business rules, relationships and grain definitions
  • Produce clear technical documentation and contribute to design workshops and remediation sessions

About You

Requirements

  • Strong experience in data engineering within complex enterprise environments
  • Advanced SQL skills, including optimisation, joins and transformation logic
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, Delta Lake and PySpark
  • Strong data modelling experience across dimensional, relational and master data structures
  • Knowledge of SCD processing, surrogate / hash keys and data quality remediation
  • Experience working with hierarchical, reference or master data
  • Ability to work across inconsistent source systems and solve complex data issues
  • Strong communication, documentation and stakeholder collaboration skills
  • Exposure to Google Cloud Platform would be beneficial
  • Experience in insurance or broker data would be advantageous
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in data engineering or a related field
