About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Systems Analyst (Exposure Management) to work for our client within the insurance sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension, and will be a hybrid role based in London (2–3 days per week in the office).

This position requires a hands-on individual with strong technical and analytical capability. While deep Exposure Management expertise is not essential, a working understanding of catastrophe modelling and underwriting processes is advantageous.

The successful candidate will support the full product lifecycle from requirements definition through to delivery and continuous improvement ensuring the stability, performance, and effectiveness of business-critical systems. Collaboration across Engineering, Architecture, Service Management, and QA teams is essential within a matrix technology environment.

Responsibilities: 
 
Product & Systems Support:
 
  • Support the product vision for systems underpinning the Exposure Management team
  • Contribute to the end-to-end product lifecycle, including requirements, delivery, and optimisation
  • Act as an active member of the Product Management team
Systems Analysis & Improvement:
    • Conduct detailed analysis of existing systems, hardware, and software to identify improvement opportunities, with a focus on automation
    • Drive operational efficiency through tool development and system enhancements
    • Develop and maintain system documentation and knowledge repositories
    Platform & Tools:
     
    • Work with internal exposure management platforms (e.g. FRED) and third-party tools such as:
      • Moody’s RiskLink / Risk Modeler
      • Verisk Sequel Impact
    • Support portfolio management and optimisation initiatives
    Collaboration & Delivery:
     
    • Partner with Engineers, Architects, and QA teams to deliver system enhancements
    • Work closely with business stakeholders and end users to gather and document requirements, workflows, and specifications
    • Build strong working relationships with the Exposure Management team
    Support & Risk Management:
     
    • Monitor and maintain systems to ensure optimal performance and uptime
    • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide support as required
    • Identify system and process risks and implement mitigation strategies

    • Identifies and mitigates product-related risks

    Core Skills:

    Technical Skills

    • Strong programming capability in:
      • SQL
      • Python
      • VBA
      • R (desirable)
    • Experience in:
      • Systems and data analysis
      • Application support
      • Building integrations, automation solutions, and data workflows
    • Familiarity with:
      • On-premise systems
      • Cloud-based infrastructure

    Domain Knowledge (Desirable)

    • Exposure Management and catastrophe modelling concepts
    • Underwriting processes and portfolio modelling
    • Pricing tools and risk aggregation
    • London Market insurance practices
