About The Role

This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (e.g. H1-B) for this position.

FDM is seeking a Production Support Engineer located in New York City, NY  to support a project in the Financial Services sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 12 Months but may be extended.

This role will be in-person with requirements to be in office 5 days per week.

About the Opportunity

FDM is partnering with a leading global financial institution to hire a Production Support Engineer supporting a front-office trading environment within the Investment Banking division. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a technical background who are looking to build their careers in financial services while working closely with traders, technology teams, and business stakeholders on a high-impact trade floor.

The successful candidate will provide application and production support for business-critical trading and risk management systems, ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of platforms that support daily trading activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and support production applications within a fast-paced front-office trading environment.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve application, system, and data issues impacting business users.
  • Perform root cause analysis for production incidents and implement preventative measures.
  • Work closely with traders, sales teams, operations, and technology groups to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Analyze system logs, application performance metrics, and database queries to identify and resolve problems.
  • Support incident management processes, including issue tracking, escalation, and documentation.
  • Develop and maintain support scripts and automation tools to improve operational efficiency.
  • Participate in deployment activities, system upgrades, and production releases.
  • Ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) and operational best practices.
  • Assist with process improvement initiatives to enhance platform stability and user experience.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience in Application Support, Production Support, Technical Support, or a similar role.
  • Strong working knowledge of UNIX/Linux environments and command-line tools.
  • Experience writing and troubleshooting SQL queries.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, or data analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Experience supporting business-critical applications in a production environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact directly with business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience within Financial Services, Capital Markets, Investment Banking, or a trading environment.
  • Understanding of financial products, trade lifecycle concepts, or front-office operations.
  • Familiarity with incident management and monitoring tools.
  • Exposure to market data, electronic trading, risk systems, or trade processing platforms.
  • Knowledge of scripting and automation best practices.
