About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Lead Test Automation Engineer to work for our client within the financial services sector. This is initially a 12 months contract with very good prospects to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Dublin.

Our client is seeking a Lead Test Automation Engineer to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly technical QA professional to take ownership of automated quality assurance across innovative risk modelling, custom data and risk feeds, and interactive visualization products. Working within a fast-paced, agile environment, you will design and develop robust test automation solutions, leveraging modern technologies and AI-assisted tooling to ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of critical business applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites in C# across APIs, services, and data pipelines supporting risk modelling and custom data feeds.
  • Build and enhance Playwright-based UI and end-to-end automation for web and mobile risk visualization platforms.
  • Create, maintain, and optimize reusable test frameworks, automation libraries, and test datasets.
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, and related tooling.
  • Validate data quality, entitlement controls, permissions, and personalization capabilities across multiple products.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to embed quality practices throughout the software development lifecycle and support shift-left testing initiatives.
  • Use AI-powered tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, and ChatGPT to accelerate test development and coverage.
  • Investigate test failures, perform root cause analysis, and document defects with clear reproduction steps.
  • Contribute to regression, performance, reliability, and integration testing across web, mobile, and API platforms.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and Agile ceremonies to ensure delivery of high-quality software solutions.

  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
  • Experience validating data using SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, and Rider.

Nice to Have

  • Experience within financial services, trading, risk management, or data-intensive environments.
  • Exposure to data pipeline testing, real-time streaming data, or visualization platforms.
  • Performance and load testing experience using tools such as NBomber or k6.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Grafana.
