About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to work for our client within the Financial Services sector. This is initially a 12-month contract with very good prospects to extend and will be a fully office based role that will be based in Johannesburg .

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join their FX Technology team. This role focuses on designing, building, automating and operating an enterprise-grade engineering platform that enables secure, scalable and compliant software delivery through DevSecOps, GitOps and Platform Engineering practices. You will take ownership of the software delivery lifecycle, from code commit through to production deployment, driving governance, security, reliability and operational excellence across development and platform environments.

Responsibilities:

Build and maintain enterprise CI/CD platforms using GitHub Actions, Argo CD and GitOps methodologies.
Implement and enhance DevSecOps controls, including SAST, DAST, Software Composition Analysis (SCA) and container security capabilities.
Manage and support cloud-native platforms, including Kubernetes, AWS EKS, Rancher and Helm.
Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions and automation frameworks to improve scalability and operational efficiency.
Enable observability using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki and Tempo.
Support release management across DEV, UAT, PREPROD and PROD environments.
Drive platform governance, compliance and RBAC controls.
Mentor engineers and champion automation-first practices.

About You

Strong hands-on experience with GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, Argo CD, Octopus Deploy, Terraform, Kubernetes, AWS, Helm and Infrastructure as Code principles.
Proven expertise implementing enterprise-scale CI/CD pipelines, GitOps practices and DevSecOps controls.
Experience with observability and monitoring tools, including OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki and Tempo.
Familiarity with technologies including Kafka, PostgreSQL, IBM MQ, Solace and CyberArk.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.
Minimum 7 years' experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering or a closely related field.

Preferred:

AWS Certification(s).
Kubernetes Certification(s), such as CKA, CKAD or CKS.
Terraform Certification.
DevSecOps-related certifications.
Experience working within regulated industries, particularly Banking or Financial Services.
