About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Lean Portfolio Manager to work for our client within the Finance sector. This is initially a 6 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in London.
  

Our client is seeking an experienced Lean Portfolio Manager (Senior Manager) to support a major Business Banking transformation programme within a leading UK banking organisation. This is a hands-on Lean Portfolio Management role focused on driving strategic alignment, portfolio governance, prioritisation, and delivery execution across a complex banking portfolio. Working in partnership with Portfolio Operations leadership, the successful candidate will help embed Lean Portfolio Management best practices whilst ensuring strategic initiatives are effectively prioritised and delivered.

The ideal candidate will combine banking experience, Big 4 consulting pedigree, Lean Portfolio Management expertise, and strong technology delivery experience.

Responsibilities: 
 
  • Act as the senior Lean Portfolio Management lead supporting a large-scale Business Banking portfolio.
  • Drive adoption of Lean Portfolio Management principles, governance, and best practices across the portfolio.
  • Lead and facilitate key L1 Portfolio events including:
    • Intake Review
    • Backlog Refinement
    • Portfolio Sync
    • Strategic Portfolio Reviews
  • Partner closely with Portfolio Operations leadership to support:
    • Portfolio prioritisation
    • PI Planning
    • Portfolio governance
    • Stand-Up of Stand-Up forums
  • Develop a detailed understanding of portfolio delivery, dependencies, risks, and customer outcomes.
  • Drive focus on key customer journeys and strategic initiatives across the Business Banking portfolio.
  • Provide challenge, insight, and recommendations to senior business and technology stakeholders.
  • Support investment and prioritisation decisions through effective portfolio reporting, governance, and delivery transparency.
  • Facilitate cross-functional alignment between business strategy, portfolio objectives, and delivery execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement across portfolio management processes and ways of working.

About You

  • Strong experience in Lean Portfolio Management within large-scale banking or financial services environments.
  • Experience operating at Senior Manager level within a major consulting firm or complex transformation environment.
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Lean Portfolio Management
    • Portfolio Governance
    • Agile Funding Models
    • Value Streams
    • OKRs
    • PI Planning
    • Portfolio Prioritisation
    • Dependency Management
  • Experience facilitating executive-level portfolio forums and governance events.
  • Strong technology delivery and transformation background.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders across business and technology functions.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred

  • Big 4 Consulting experience (EY, Deloitte, PwC, KPMG).
  • Business Banking experience.
  • Experience supporting large-scale agile transformations.
  • SAFe, Scrum, Agile or Lean certifications.
  • Experience within highly regulated financial services organisations.
