About The Role

This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (e.g. H1-B) for this position.

FDM is seeking a Senior Data Engineer located in New York to support a project in the financial sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 1-2 years but may be extended.

This role will be hybrid with requirements to be in office 3-4 days per week.

About You

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data & AI Engineer to support critical regulatory and financial planning initiatives, with a particular focus on CCAR (Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review) modelling and workflow enablement. This role combines data engineering, application development, AI capabilities, and financial modelling support to deliver scalable solutions across front-end dashboards and back-end analytical platforms.


The ideal candidate will possess strong programming expertise in Java, Python, and/or Scala, as well as experience working with Snowflake and modern AI technologies. Knowledge of FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) concepts is highly desirable.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain applications supporting CCAR and related financial modelling processes.
  • Build and enhance front-end dashboarding solutions using Java-based technologies.
  • Develop and support back-end analytical models, workflows, and data processing pipelines using Python or Scala.
  • Design and optimize data solutions within Snowflake, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and data integrity.
  • Implement AI-driven capabilities to improve modelling accuracy, workflow efficiency, and business insights.
  • Partner with Risk, Finance, FP&A, and Technology teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Support end-to-end workflow orchestration, automation, and monitoring for regulatory and finance programmes.
  • Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture, security, governance, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, production support, and continuous improvement initiatives.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5-6 years of professional experience in software engineering, data engineering, or quantitative technology roles.
  • Strong programming experience in:
    • Java (required for dashboarding/front-end development)
    • Python and/or Scala (required for modelling and workflow development)
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake data platform.
  • Experience designing and supporting data pipelines, workflow automation, and analytical solutions.
  • Demonstrated AI/ML competency, including the ability to leverage AI technologies within business applications and data workflows.
  • Strong SQL and data modelling skills.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
