About The Role

This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (e.g. H1-B) for this position.

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy delivering client and industry driven solutions through our 5 core specialist Practices; Software Engineering, Data & Analytics, IT Operations, Change & Transformation, and Risk, Regulation & Compliance.

FDM is seeking a DevOps Engineer located in NYC to support a project in the Financial Services sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 12 months but may be extended.

This role will be hybrid with requirements to be in office 3 days per week.

About You

Our client is seeking a DevOps Engineer with experience in Azure and Azure DevOps to support the team in building a developer and cloud centric application delivery program. This individual will help identify, document, and automate developer requests to build scalable processes. A persistent security-driven mindset and agility will be critical in this function.

Primary Responsibilities 

Cloud Infrastructure & Platform Engineering

  • Design, build, maintain, and optimize secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure in Microsoft Azure
  • Develop standardized infrastructure patterns, reusable modules, and platform services for application teams
  • Support networking, compute, storage, identity, secrets management, and related cloud services
  • Partner with infrastructure, cybersecurity, and development teams on platform design and technology standards

    CI/CD & Software Delivery

    Monitoring, Reliability & Production Operations

    Security, Governance & Controls

    Required Qualifications 

    Preferred Qualifications 

  • Previous experience within investment banking, financial services, private equity, asset management, or another highly regulated enterprise environment
  • Advanced experience with the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, particularly technologies such as Azure DevOps, Entra ID, AKS, Azure Monitor, Key Vault, and Azure networking
  • Experience with Docker and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
  • Experience developing reusable Bicep modules and managing enterprise-scale Bicep environments
  • Experience with DevSecOps, including SAST, DAST, dependency scanning, container scanning, secrets scanning, and policy-as-code
  • Familiarity with enterprise security and governance frameworks, including audit controls, change management, segregation of duties, and technology risk management
  • Knowledge of database platforms and deployment automation involving SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or other relational databases
  • Experience with API management, messaging/event platforms, or enterprise integration technologies
  • Familiarity with SRE concepts such as SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, capacity management, and reliability engineering
  • Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity testing
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Azure Bicep
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, deployments, patching, and recurring operational processes
  • Develop automation and tooling using Powershell or Python
  • Establish reusable automation frameworks that reduce manual processes and improve environment consistency
  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps Classic and Release Pipelines
  • Automate application build, testing, security scanning, deployment, and release-management processes
  • Implement deployment strategies such as rolling deployments, blue/green deployments, and automated rollback
  • Partner with development teams to improve release velocity, repeatability, and overall developer experience
  • Establish source-control, branching, artifact-management, and deployment best practices
  • Implement application and infrastructure monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability
  • Work with technologies such as Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Dynatrace, Idera, etc
  • Define and monitor operational metrics, service health indicators, and infrastructure capacity
  • Participate in production incident response, root-cause analysis, and post-incident remediation
  • Identify recurring operational issues and implement automation or architectural improvements to eliminate them
  • Support disaster recovery, business continuity, backup, and infrastructure resiliency initiatives
  • Embed security practices throughout infrastructure and software delivery processes
  • Partner with cybersecurity teams to implement identity and access management, secrets management, vulnerability scanning, patching, encryption, and security controls
  • Integrate security scanning and policy enforcement into CI/CD pipelines
  • Maintain infrastructure and deployment practices consistent with enterprise governance, change management, and audit requirements
  • Support remediation of vulnerabilities, configuration issues, and technology risks
  • Partner with application developers to improve application architecture, deployment processes, and operational readiness
  • Promote DevOps practices including automation, Infrastructure as Code, continuous delivery, observability, and shared ownership
  • Create technical documentation, runbooks, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures
  • Mentor development and infrastructure teams on cloud and DevOps engineering best practice
  • 1+ years of experience in DevOps engineering, cloud engineering, site reliability engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Hands-on professional experience with at least one major cloud platform, preferably Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably using Azure Bicep
  • Proven experience designing and maintaining enterprise CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong scripting and automation capabilities using PowerShell, Python, or similar languages
  • Experience with Git, source-control practices, branching strategies, and code-review processes
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts including DNS, load balancing, firewalls, private networking, routing, proxies, certificates, and connectivity
  • Experience implementing monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions
  • Experience supporting highly available, production-critical systems and participating in incident response
  • Strong understanding of IAM, secrets management, privileged access, certificate management, vulnerability management, and secure infrastructure practices
  • Experience troubleshooting issues across applications, infrastructure, networks, operating systems, and cloud services
  • Strong understanding of modern software development and SDLC practices
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent engineering initiatives while working across infrastructure, application development, security, architecture, and business technology teams
