About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to support our Accountancy client in the delivery of a strategic enterprise-wide AI & Business Transformation programme. This is a 6 month contract with good potential to extend and is a hybrid role based in London.

This is a high-profile transformation initiative sponsored at CIO/CTO level, focused on enabling the safe, effective, and scalable adoption of Artificial Intelligence across the organisation. The programme brings together technology, governance, data, security, business readiness, workforce capability, risk management, and operational transformation to establish the foundations required for long-term AI adoption.

You will lead complex business and technology change initiatives involving AI-enabled products, services, and capabilities, ensuring that delivery extends beyond technology implementation to encompass organisational change, operational readiness, governance, adoption, and sustainable business outcomes.

The successful candidate will play a leading role in shaping delivery strategy, engaging stakeholders across the organisation, identifying risks and dependencies, and ensuring AI-enabled solutions are successfully embedded into Business as Usual.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior IT Project Manager with significant experience delivering complex technology and business transformation programmes, ideally involving AI-enabled products, intelligent automation, digital transformation, data-driven solutions, or enterprise technology modernisation.

You will lead the mobilisation, planning, and delivery of multiple interconnected workstreams, working closely with senior business and technology stakeholders, data teams, security teams, risk and compliance functions, operational leaders, and external technology partners.

The successful candidate will bring strong project delivery expertise alongside a broader understanding of the organisational considerations required to successfully introduce AI-enabled solutions, including governance, people, processes, data readiness, workforce capability, operational ownership, security, compliance, adoption, assurance, and business change.

This role requires an exceptional communicator who can confidently engage stakeholders at all levels, translate complex technical topics into clear business implications, challenge constructively, and provide practical recommendations to support decision making.

You will be someone who brings structure to complexity and looks beyond programme status reporting, asking critical questions around business readiness, governance, risks, dependencies, capability, and long-term operational success.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex AI-enabled technology and business transformation programmes from initiation through implementation and operational transition.
  • Develop and manage integrated delivery plans covering scope, milestones, budgets, resources, risks, dependencies, and governance.
  • Deliver AI products and solutions while ensuring alignment to business objectives, AI strategy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage cross-functional teams spanning Business, Technology, Data, Security, Risk, Compliance, and Operations.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and facilitate executive governance, workshops, and decision-making forums.
  • Drive programme governance, RAID management, reporting, financial control, and vendor/partner management.
  • Ensure organisational change, business readiness, operating model development, and successful adoption into BAU.
  • Identify delivery challenges, risks, and dependencies early, providing practical recommendations to support informed decision-making.

About You

  • Significant experience delivering large-scale IT and business transformation programmes within complex enterprise environments.
  • Proven Senior IT Project Management experience leading organisational, technology, and AI-enabled change initiatives.
  • Experience delivering AI, intelligent automation, machine learning, data-driven, or emerging technology solutions.
  • Strong understanding of AI adoption considerations including governance, risk, data readiness, security, compliance, and operational change.
  • Expertise in programme governance, integrated planning, budgeting, resource management, dependency management, and RAID controls.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills across technical, business, and executive audiences.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing third-party suppliers, consultancies, and technology partners.
  • Strong problem-solving, commercial, and organisational skills, with experience managing complex delivery environments and competing priorities.
Nice to Have

  • Experience delivering AI Governance, Responsible AI, AI Risk Management, or AI Assurance programmes.
  • Knowledge of Generative AI, Microsoft Copilot, AI Agents, Machine Learning, Intelligent Automation, or related technologies.
  • Experience within professional services, financial services, legal, accounting, or other regulated industries.
  • Understanding of AI governance frameworks, ethical AI principles, and emerging regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with data governance, information security, privacy, and risk management practices.
  • Experience delivering within Agile, Hybrid, Product-led, or traditional project environments.
  • Experience supporting operating model transformation, workforce capability development, and service transition activities.
  • Relevant qualifications such as PRINCE2, MSP, PMP, AgilePM, Change Management, ITIL, or equivalent professional certifications.

Personal Attributes

  • Highly organised and delivery-focused
  • Proactive and self-sufficient
  • Resilient and comfortable operating in fast-paced environments
  • Strong communicator who adapts messaging to different audiences
  • Able to build credibility quickly with senior stakeholders
  • Comfortable challenging assumptions and driving accountability
  • Strong commercial and strategic thinking capability
  • Solution-oriented, bringing options and recommendations rather than simply escalating problems
  • Capable of managing ambiguity and shaping programmes in their early stages
  • Effective at managing by exception whilst maintaining overall delivery control
