About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an QA Analyst (BAU & Platform Support) to work for our client within the Financial Services sector. This is initially a 6 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in London.

Our client is seeking an experienced QA Analyst to join its Run the Bank (RTB) QA team within Architecture & Engineering. The team supports Capital Markets and Corporate Banking. It tests changes to business-critical applications to reduce the risk of operational disruption, processing errors and compliance issues. You'll test BAU changes, releases and production fixes, combining hands-on functional and regression testing with SQL data validation, defect investigation and test evidence. You'll work closely with Business Analysts, Developers, Production Support, Release Management and business users across a range of investment banking applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Review requirements and acceptance criteria, assess risk and define proportionate test approaches for BAU changes, releases, production fixes and hotfixes.
  • Design and execute functional, SIT, regression, smoke, sanity and defect-retest scenarios across Front, Middle and Back Office processes.
  • Perform hands-on testing across Front Office/trading and wider investment banking applications, understanding end-to-end trade flows, interfaces and upstream/downstream dependencies.
  • Use SQL to validate data, transformations, interfaces, batch outputs, reconciliations and downstream reporting.
  • Log and manage defects through their lifecycle in Jira/Xray, supporting triage and root cause analysis, and verifying fixes before closure.
  • Maintain audit-ready requirements-to-test-to-defect traceability and supporting evidence.
  • Apply a risk-based testing approach, prioritising coverage by production impact, system criticality and business deadlines.
  • Report clearly on test progress, defects, risks and release readiness, and support UAT and regression automation where needed.

About You

  • Strong hands-on experience in functional, system integration and regression testing within investment banking, capital markets or a similar regulated environment.
  • QA experience on Front Office/trading or investment banking systems, with a good understanding of trade flows across Front, Middle and Back Office.
  • Strong SQL and data validation skills, including reconciliation across source and target systems.
  • Experience testing APIs, middleware, interfaces and batch-processing solutions.
  • Experience using Jira and Xray, or equivalent tools, for test management, traceability and defect management.
  • Strong analytical and defect investigation skills, with a sound grasp of risk-based testing for hotfixes and business-critical changes.
  • Clear communicator, confident working with business users and technical teams and raising quality risks early.
  • Knowledge of securities products (fixed income, equities or derivatives), regulatory reporting (MiFID II, EMIR, SFTR), or automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Postman, Java or Python is desirable. An ISTQB certification is also desirable.
