Database Engineer - Remote

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Database Engineer to work for our client within the Technology sector. This is initially a 6-month contract but has the potential to extend.  Please note that this role will include some occasional European travel.

As a Database Engineer, reporting to the Consulting Engineer Team Lead, you will lead and contribute to all phases of the Neo4j implementation within projects from inception to roll-out, both in an advisory or hands-on capacity. You will be the technical subject matter expert for short to long term consulting engagements where you’ll work hands-on with Neo4j products, provide expert advise and guidance, train and educate and help prepare deployments from inception to production roll-out.

Responsibilities

• Develop solution architectures that address the technical requirements of the end-user’s projects.
• Design and build prototype solutions that demonstrate required functionality
• Prepare solution proposals for the customer’s engineering and management teams that help address the overall project goals
• Be the subject matter expert for ongoing projects with Neo4j products
• Focus your expertise in applying Neo4j towards specific use cases/industries or specific aspects technology wise e.g. database, cloud infrastructure, full stack graph applications, graph data science

Requirements

• 3 years’ experience in Neo4j
• Extensive experience with database technologies and data modelling concepts (preferably using big data and/or analytics technologies
• Minimum 5+ years of experience designing and developing enterprise class applications
• Knowledgeable in the Java ecosystem
• Hands-on development experience using API’s, messaging and middleware
• Experience with complex data analysis (graph) data science
• Proven experience solving complex technical data problems
• Experience working in an agile environment and DevOps experience
• Experience in a consultative role, with large, enterprise scale, customer-facing projects
• Capable of mentoring and/or educating small groups
• Great listening skills and attention to detail
• Industry vertical experience such as Financial Service, Retail or Telco

Technical Requirements

• Graph DB Related experience i.e. with Neo4j, OrientDB, TitanDB or similar
• Familiarity with Couchbase, MongoDB, Marklogic, Teradata or similar NoSQL tech
• Experience in Visualization (D3, Sigma.js, Linkurious, Sawyer)
