Data Modeler - Remote

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Data Modeler to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 3-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a fully remote role.

Our client is looking for a Data Modeler or Analyst who will work with the business to execute As-Is and To-Be Analysis and create Global and Country Level data artefacts. They will use this knowledge to help create the dimensional data models for the new data platform.

You will have strong track record of creating complex logical and physical data models for both operational systems (e.g. Oracle, SalesForce) AND data warehouse systems (e.g. Snowflake, Oracle, Teradata). They will have extensive experience of using data modelling tools (e.g., ERWIN, Sparx EA)

Responsibilities

• Take ownership and lead the data analysis and profiling activity for multi-country data sources, aligned to multiple data domains including but not limited to Finance and HR. 
• Facilitate workshops with Architects, Product Owners, Subject Matter Experts to document as-is data landscape, ensure common understanding of the as-is data and map to the target data architecture
• Work closely with the Data Architect to ensure consistency and completeness of data modelling work, system data flows and integrations
• Work closely with the Data Architect to create dimensional and semantic data models for Finance and HR performance reporting
• Identify, analyse, and interpret complex data sets, identifying gaps and inconsistencies in the target data architecture
• Develop as-is CRUD and MSOP matrices for relevant Data domains
• Collect and interpret data, analyse results, and provide ongoing reports
• Define new data collection and analysis processes
• Define business and data quality rules
• Identify and define data quality risks based on understanding of business processes
• Provide recommendations or guidance to improve quality issues

• Proven working experience as a Data Modeller/Analyst on Finance data warehouse implementations with HR experience as a plus
• Experience of ErWin or similar Data Modelling tool
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
• Solid ability to document complex rules, logic, and transformations
• Strong knowledge and understanding of relational data models, data warehouses, big data models and non-relational database systems
• Adept at SQL queries, report writing and presenting findings
• Experience as an analyst working with Excel, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL
• Delivery experience within an agile environment using Scrum/Kanban methodologies and JIRA
• Ability to develop good working relationships with both technical and non-technical colleagues, able to articulate clearly and effectively
• AWS Datalake/S3, Snowflake, Oracle Financials Cloud and WorkDay experience
• Experience of AWS, and Tableau or Power BI stack
