About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Data Business Analyst to work for our client within the insurance sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in London, Telford or Edinburgh.

As a Data Business Analyst, you will support sustaining the continued maturity of our client’s data journey and will contribute to the successful delivery of their vision.  You will have an extensive track record of working with front, middle and back-office teams and have a good understanding of the trade lifecycle from both an investment and operational perspective. The role holder with have responsibility for developing the business and technical requirements required to evolve the data operating model, primarily for the asset management function of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strong relationships with key business stakeholders and other colleagues to elicit requirements and subsequently update on requirements evolution in a business focused way
  • Support and host discussions within a multidisciplinary team with potentially difficult dynamics
  • Support the projects managers and deliver managers to regularly assess the progress and effectiveness of the discovery and analysis effort
  • Create artifacts supporting agile ways of working e.g., user stories with acceptance criteria (JIRA)
  • Create and maintain good quality stores of business knowledge and information (JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint etc)
  • Work with Scrum Master to prioritise the backlog
  • Support Delivery teams by communicating effectively within an agile framework
  • Identify and document risks, issues and dependencies that are likely to affect eh delivery of requirements
  • Support the development of sustainable, commercially viable change solutions with clear linkages to assess management goals and objectives – end to end (discovery, analysis/design, build, test and business readiness)

About You

Requirements

  • At least 5 years’ experience in the banking, pensions, and finance/asset management industry
  • Direct experience with datasets relating to investment, asset data, including derivatives i.e., trade life cycle
  • Experience with front, middle and back-office teams to gather and interpret business process and technical requirements
  • Understanding of the key concepts of data platforms, warehouses/lakes
  • Relevant experience working as part of an agile team
  • Experience engaging with third party vendors
  • Proficient in Microsoft office tools to an advanced standard
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and tooling to support agile delivery of projects (e.g., Jira, confluence)
  • Understanding of architecture and design concepts for data exploitation solutions and technologies including analytics (e.g. R & Python) Reporting (e.g. Quicksight, tableau, Qlik, Power BI) and APIs
