About The Role

Become a Software Engineering Trainer and Coach at FDM Australia

Strong in programming but drawn to coaching? This is your chance to turn your technical expertise into real impact.

For 10 years, FDM has built the talent behind Australia’s tech and innovation sectors, supporting leading organisations across banking, finance, insurance, retail and more. Now we’re looking for a Software Engineering Trainer to help shape the next generation.

You’ll prepare early-career graduates for Software Engineering roles, mentoring them into confident, client-ready Technical Consultants. Beyond core engineering skills, we’re investing heavily in AI fluency. You’ll build foundations in prompt engineering, strengthen your own capability, and help consultants apply AI in practical, project-based environments.

How it works

Before stepping into the role, you’ll complete 10+ weeks of focused upskilling in our Skills Lab. You’ll then join a collaborative team of Coaches across APAC, delivering hands-on, real-world training.

What you’ll do
  • Design and deliver structured, hands-on training in the FDM Skills Lab that reflects real client environments
  • Design projects aligned to industry demand and learning outcomes
  • Mentor consultants within pod teams, guiding problem-solving, growth and project readiness
  • Provide clear, tailored feedback to build confidence and technical capability
  • Assess performance through practical evaluations and interviews
  • Support recruitment by assessing candidate aptitude and conducting mock interviews
  • Prepare consultants for client assignments, including resume readiness and professional presentation
  • Partner with Sales as a technical SME in client conversations
If you want to grow your own expertise while shaping Australia’s future software engineers, this is the role to do it.

Why join us?
  • Play a direct role in launching the next generation of software engineers
  • Be part of a dedicated team of Coaches across the APAC region
  • Receive structured upskilling to excel in your coaching role
  • Gain hands-on experience mentoring and developing early-career talent
  • Access upskilling opportunities (computer science background required)
  • Access career growth opportunities within FDM while shaping future tech leaders

About You

  • Degree or higher in a tech-related field
  •  Experience with one or more of the following: Java, SQL, Unix, Python
  •  Commercial experience is a plus, but not essential
  •  Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
  •  Patient, supportive, and confident mentoring early-career talent
  •  Commitment to at least 2 years with FDM, helping you grow while shaping future tech talent
  •  Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced learning environment
If you’re passionate about developing people and want to help shape the future of tech talent in Australia, we’d love to hear from you.
