About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Business Analyst to work for our client within the Public sector. This is initially a 5-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that can be based in either of the following offices: Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham.

Responsibilities: 

  • Requirements Gathering – Lead the exploration and collection of business needs aligned to project objectives, assessing the necessity and value of the activity within its specific context.
  • Process Mapping – Where applicable, utilize various tools and methods to document current (‘As-Is’) and future (‘To-Be’) business processes.
  • Gap Identification – Compare current operations with desired outcomes to pinpoint areas for improvement and define the business requirements essential for successful change.
  • Impact Assessment – Examine the implications of proposed changes, estimating required adjustments and identifying affected stakeholders, while aligning with the broader project scope.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Collaborate with business owners, change leads, and end users to ensure alignment and shared understanding throughout delivery.
  • Facilitation – Partner with business stakeholders to uncover and clarify their needs.
  • Systems Analysis – Oversee systems analysis activities to ensure timely translation of business requirements into technical solutions, working closely with technical leads.
  • Business Improvement – Coordinate with Business Improvement teams to identify and implement enhancements to business-as-usual operations, ensuring project benefits are realized.
  • Solution Design – Work alongside policy and strategy teams to ensure systems, workflows, and processes support the target operating model.
  • Delivery Tools and Documentation – Support change delivery through comprehensive documentation and frameworks, including methodologies, operating models, functional specs, use cases, user stories, UAT plans and strategies, entry/exit criteria, defect logs, templates, guidance, and business cases.
  • Risk Management – Proactively identify and assess risks, issues, and opportunities across all Business Analyst activities.

About You

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience
  • Ability to lead the identification and evaluation of business needs, ensuring alignment with project goals and assessing the value of proposed changes through gap and impact analysis.
  • Proven experience in building strong relationships with business owners, change leads, and users to collaboratively define needs and maintain alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
