Senior Java Developer- Remote

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Java Developer to work for our public sector partner. This is initially a 12-month contract with good prospects to extend and will be a remote role.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development, maintenance, and enhancement of Java‑based services.
• Work with SQL databases, ensuring data integrity, performance, and effective integration.
• Support and maintain existing Brown Site fields and legacy components where required.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs using modern Java frameworks.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins and Concourse.
• Build and deploy containerised applications using Docker.
• Work with AWS cloud services as part of our modern platform approach.
• Support PERL‑based legacy components as needed during modernisation.
• Collaborate closely with architects, product managers, and developers in an agile environment.
• Provide mentoring, code reviews, and technical leadership to the wider team.

• Strong knowledge of Java (Java 11+).
• Hands‑on experience with SQL databases.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Concourse.
• Experience with Docker and container‑based development.
• Experience working with AWS cloud services.
• Exposure to legacy systems, ideally supporting Brown Site services.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary agile teams.
• Proven experience operating as a Senior Developer, including influencing technical direction.
