About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an experienced Data Engineer to work for our client within the retail sector. This is initially a 12 month contract with very good prospects to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in London.

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our team. This role requires strong foundational skills in data engineering with expertise in modern data pipeline development and cloud-based data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
  • Develop and optimise data transformations using DBT and related tooling
  • Implement data orchestration solutions to support business intelligence and analytics needs
  • Work with streaming data platforms and real-time data integration
  • Ensure data quality, security, and reliability through comprehensive testing frameworks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver data solutions that meet business requirements

About You

  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL (fundamental requirement)
  • Experience with PySpark for large-scale data processing
  • Hands-on experience with DBT and Jinja templating
  • Proven track record building ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and orchestration workflows

Highly Desirable:

  • AWS services: Glue, Workflows, Lambda, CodePipeline, ECS, S3
  • Kafka and Kafka connectors for streaming data
  • Snowflake data warehouse experience
  • GitHub Actions & Workflows for CI/CD
  • Experience with automation testing, security testing, data quality, and end-to-end testing
  • Bash/Shell scripting capabilities

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with Bosun or SonarQube

What We're Looking For:
